About Yamil
Yamil is single and ready to mingle—just in time for Valentine’s Day! Stunning Yamil came to us via two shelter transfers after she was abandoned by her family and left to fend for herself on the streets of Mexico. When Yamil was first rescued, she was heavily pregnant and had CTVT. She gave birth in a Mexican shelter, but sadly, none of her puppies survived.
She was then treated with chemotherapy and made a full recovery from CTVT before undertaking the long journey to Canada, where she was placed in a local humane society. Yamil found shelter life extremely stressful and was not coping well at all, so we were thrilled to be able to transfer her into our care once one of our foster homes became available. Some dogs just really need the extra TLC that only a loving foster family can provide.
It is clear that Yamil forms a strong bond with the people in her life and loves to be near them, especially if cuddles are involved. She is calm and well-behaved indoors but absolutely loves to zoom around outside in a fenced yard! Yamil is not only beautiful and has the most soulful eyes, she’s also a total sweetheart. As you tell her all about your day, Yamil will wag her tail in response, just so you know she’s listening and taking in every word.
After everything that she’s been through, Yamil is a true survivor. That does mean that she can at times be fearful of new people and other dogs, but she’s making progress in her foster home, and we expect she will continue to gain confidence with the support of a committed adopter as she adjusts to yet another major change. For Yamil’s comfort, a calm household with a regular routine and without children or other pets would be best.
If you have room in your heart to give Yamil the gift of a stable, forever home, we’d love to hear from you!
