About Jewel
From Jewel's foster…
”Jewel is such a sweet and adorable little girl. She is so affectionate and wants to be with her people. She loves a lap to sit on and loves snuggling any chance she gets. She walks so well on leash and enjoys her walks. She LOVES squeaky toys and will play with them on her own and loves to fetch them. She is a perfect dog and I find it so hard to believe she ended up in a shelter. She is house trained and is non-destructive if left alone. She really is a jewel.”
Needs slow introductions to dogs, but is good after a while. Barks and chases cats. Walks really well on leash and tends to jump on you for attention.
Jewel would do well as the only dog or with another small dog in the home with no cats. I would love to see her in a home with people who don't mind her wanting to be with them all the time, and don't mind a little dog on their lap most of the time. I think she'd be great with a family who would give her lots of attention and who would take time to play with her.
Adoption Fee | $500
Adoption fees help cover the costs associated with rescue, such as vetting, boarding, and transportation.
Prior to adoption, dogs are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and 4Dx tested, and they receive any necessary treatment. After adoption, they are eligible for one month of free pet insurance.

Why We Love Fostering
-
There is a special joy in seeing the transformation from fear to trust in a foster cat’s face and posture, the first time they relax and warm up to me. There is so much comedy in a litter of crazy kittens, rollicking and tumbling, learning how to be big cats. Each foster kitty has been cared for as if they were my own, and I enjoy the confidence in the feeling that they are ready for their forever home. That is the biggest difference between choosing to adopt from a small rescue rather than a shelter, and why I love volunteering. People often ask me how I can be so strong to let such sweet kitties go to adoption, but the feeling that I have space to help another is worth the emotional goodbye. Penny is the twenty-first cat I have helped, and I am not going to stop anytime soon! Fostering for Pets Alive is by far the most rewarding volunteering I have ever done.
Why We Love Fostering
-
Fostering gives me the opportunity to share a journey with an animal who has no one else. Without people like me these dogs may not get a second chance at feeling safe and finding a stable, loving forever home. I remember each of them vividly and we have a special bond.
