Rooibos has been diagnosed with eosinophilic granuloma complex. This autoimmune condition is chronic, but can easily be managed with prescription medications as symptoms flare. The approved applicant for Rooibos will be provided with additional information and guidance on this condition. EGC is NOT CONTAGIOUS AND THEREFORE CANNOT BE TRANSFERRED TO HUMANS OR OTHER ANIMALS.
Hi everyone, my name is Rooibos! I am one of the kittens from the “Tea Babies” litter of cuties. Now, I have a favour to ask of you...if looking at my picture was enough to have you wanting to learn more about me and see if I would be a good fit for your home, please give me a chance and read my entire bio.
I am a handsome, clumsy, funny, affectionate boy with lots of energy! I love to play, roll around, and do zoomies around the house. Oh yeah...I also like to meow at the top of my lungs for no particular reason. I am a loving guy who loves to cuddle in bed or on the couch, and give kisses. If I am not already in bed cuddling with you when it's time to wake up, I will run from wherever I am into the bedroom when your alarm clock goes off. Also, I've worked my way up in my foster home since I first arrived when I was only one week old...I am the Litter Executive Officer (LEO). I take my job as LEO very seriously and will often supervise litter cleaning.
I must say, the whole cats and dogs rivalry is a complete myth. I absolutely love my foster parents' dog, Charlie! I follow Charlie around the house and even allow that guy to clean my ears. 10/10 would recommend...it's far more efficient than any self-grooming and with the time I save I like to take naps.
Now, here's the thing... I have a condition called Eosinophillic Granuloma Complex. I know- it’s a longggg one- let’s call it EGC for short! EGC is a group of skin conditions that is typically caused by an allergic hypersensitivity...that means my body perceives something as a threat that normally isn't. ECG cannot be spread to other animals or to humans, and management focuses on minimizing triggers and administration of medication during flare-ups.
Unfortunately having this condition has made it harder for me to find a forever home, but I am confident that the right family will come along...after all, it is on my Christmas list to Santa this year.
If you are interested in learning more about me please fill out an application! My foster parents and the Pets Alive team would love to share how they have helped minimize my EGC triggers and prevent flare-ups.
